Thing 11

As far as Slideshare, it was interesting to note that the service is "out there" but I really don't see any use for it personally (at least at this point). My students tend to use Photostory 3 for presentations. Those are saved as a .wmv file and can also be put on a blog. My students enjoy Photostory 3 (a free microsoft download) because they can illustrate, narrate and put music to their stories. I have a webpage through our district but have always hesitated putting student work on it...I really don't know why.

I really like PhotoStory. It's very easy to use, plus it's free! As far as putting work on your school website, just be sure to respect your students' privacy (and alleviate their parents' fears) by not putting their real names or the real names of anyone else in their stories. Unless of course it's a story about a famous person.

I find that I am very hesitant to put my students' work online also. I see that some of my teachers' school web pages show student faces (partially) and their first names, last initial. I'm not crazy about that but I don't want to discourage them from posting. I'm not sure what to do.
